On Wednesday, 20 May 2026, during the Eurovent Annual Meeting in Brussels, the Eurovent Commission met to elect its leadership, exchange views with the European Commission on EPBD implementation and strengthen cooperation with the Indoor Air Quality Society on indoor air quality as a public health priority.
The meeting saw Marta San Román re-elected as Vice-Chair of the Eurovent Commission for a further term. Lennart Østergaard remains Chair, reflecting his longstanding commitment to coordinated representation of European industry.
The meeting also included an exchange of views with European Commission representatives on the implementation and enforcement of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) in Member States.
The discussion focused on how Member States are approaching EPBD transposition, where implementation challenges may arise and how the Commission intends to follow up to ensure consistent application of the Directive across Europe.
Indoor air quality was also part of the discussion, reflecting the importance of the EPBD as a key EU-level instrument in this area. In this context, Eurovent welcomed Marianne Kemmere, Executive Director of the Indoor Air Quality Society (IAQS), to the Commission meeting.
