Eurovent and AMCA update fan quality criteria

Standards and regulations: Eurovent and AMCA update fan quality criteria

Brussels, 2 June 2026. Eurovent has published a new recommendation: Eurovent 1/15 – 2026 ‘Quality Criteria for Fans and Fan Units’, developed jointly with AMCA International and leading manufacturers represented in Eurovent's ‘Fan Technology’ Product Group (PG-FANS).

The publication provides comprehensive industry guidance on fan quality, performance, energy efficiency, acoustics, vibration analysis, testing methodologies and mechanical design considerations.

It was developed to help manufacturers, engineers, consultants, original equipment manufacturers and other HVACR professionals navigate evolving regulatory requirements and improve system performance.

The recommendation comes at a critical time for the European HVACR sector, as the updated EU Regulation (EU) 2024/1834 introduces significantly stricter ecodesign requirements for fans from 24 July 2026, including mandatory consideration of part-load efficiency from 2027.

The new recommendation provides practical guidance on selecting, testing and integrating fans and fan units under real operating conditions. It covers both laboratory performance assessment and the impact of installation conditions on actual system efficiency, acoustics and reliability.
